The owner of the Law Firm is María Soledad Gallego Bernad, a Senior Environmental Lawyer and consultant, expecialized on Water and Biodiversity.She started working as a lawyer in 1994.

Lawyer of the BirdLife International Spanish partner (SEO/Birdlife) since 2007, she also works for other NGOs, public administrations, Foundations, Universities, and social collectives.

Member of the Madrid Bar Association, and ENEC (European Network against Environmental Crime)

Founding member of the Foundation for a New Water Culture (Spain) and its Observatory of Water Public Policies, that evaluates the evolution of water-related public policies in Spain and Portugal.

She has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer and consultant on environmental issues both in Spain and the EU, focusing in the past 15 years primarily on water and biodiversity policies in the EU context, working extensively with the non-profit sector. She is an expert in the Water Framework Directive and in the Birds and Habitats Directives, among others(Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Liability, Public Participation in decision-making and Access to Information and Justice in these matters). She works on these issues in Courts, complaints to the European Commission, petitions to the European Parliament, and also through participation in environmental and water policies, to make legislation and regulations more sustainable. She hascontributed to create and has coordinated networks of NGOs and citizen groups in defense of rivers and environment in international basins. She also has experience in management positions in the public sector in matters of water and territorial planning, and in the definition of strategies, coordination and management of projects and teams. She has published books, academic papers, technical reports and media articles, and is an experienced public speaker.

She also had the following positions (2002-2005): General Director of Town Planning, General Director of Water and General Director of Housing of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain).
